Full course description
Mush Mush! This 8th-grade novel study is designed to provide students the opportunity to take a deep dive into The Call of the Wild. Buck, a half St. Bernard, and half sheepdog must heed the call of the wild as he is taken from his home to survive in the gold-crazed North. This story of survival among men and dogs will help students examine what tools an author utilizes to create an enjoyable & thoughtful reading experience. It will also help refine one’s own critical reading skills to better understand complex texts. This course will draw on outside texts & videos to provide context and depth around this novel. Students will engage in personal reflections of texts and ideas, as well as engage in discussions to support engagement. Enrollment in this course will result in $75 being deducted from the enrolled student's Sage Oak Instructional Fund account. Small materials fee may also apply.
