Full course description

This course expands upon your basic understanding of chemistry. You'll start by examining the properties of matter, including the types of bonds and forces that hold atoms and molecules together. Next, you'll explore the states of matter, phase changes, gas laws, and properties of solutions. Then you'll learn about the thermodynamics and kinetics of chemical reactions, including why some reactions give off heat while others consume it. You'll also look at chemical equilibrium, redox reactions, and electrochemistry. Finally, you'll explore types of radiation and radioactive decay as well as the difference between nuclear fission and fusion. At the end of this course, you'll be able to evaluate the ethical, social, and economic implications of chemistry-related technologies.
